Capital of Ghanche

Khaplu; as it lies along the Shyok with an upfront view of Haldi Cones is a hamlet that will still take you back into ancient era with its Tibetan architecture. Serves as the Capital of Ghanche District was ruled by Yabgo’s and Dogra’s of Kashmir due to its geographical significance. Chaqchan Mosque and Khaplu Fort are the major attractions the truly represent the fusion of Kashmir & Tibetan culture. Few miles ahead of Khaplu one can witness The Masherbrum Peak on a very clear day. It also serves as a base town for the expeditions to K6, K7, Dumsum and Laila Peak.
