Shounter

True Wilderness

Shounter is a sub valley, that connects Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan through its high altitude Shounter Pass (4420m).

It carves up from Neelam valley at Kel and connects to Mir Malik in Astore. 

Shounter is known for majestic Hari Parbat peak, mystical Chitha Katha lake and its pristine wilderness enriched with streams, flowers and feral horses.

Lower nodes of valley are inhabited permanently towards Kel side, but higher ones are grazes for nomads only in summers, since its covered in deep snow from November till April
