Thorsikar Fort

Birds Eye view of Khaplu

Thorsikar Fort lies on top of semi-circular wall of Khaplu- its a steep hike of about an hour along the stream between Chaqchan mosque and Khaplu Fort. Thorsikar means “high on the roof” was used as a defence post in ancient times. It offers a birds eye view of Khaplu and confluence of Hushe and Shyok River as the river bends along the Haldi Cones; it’s a perfect spot to watch sunset or sunrise.
