Drive overnight from Islamabad through Naran, over the legendary Babusar Top at 4,173m, and down into Skardu via Gilgit — one of Pakistan's great overland journeys. Four days of Skardu's best sights follow: Shangrila, the vast Deosai Plains, Khamosh and Manthoka waterfalls, and Khaplu Fort with its ancient mosque. Return via the same Naran–Babusar spine, stopping at Lulusar Lake for golden-hour views.
